Embracing Hydroelectric Power

Image
Hydroelectric power is helping fill the gap in the energy supply of Australian homes. Many may be unaware, but hydroelectric power currently powers hundreds of thousands of properties all over Australia, accounting for a vast portion of the energy generated through renewable sources. As water passes from a reservoir, it passes through a turbine (or energy generator). When the water passes through the turbine blades, the generator converts the motion into energy. This source of energy has the potential to power households during peak demand periods to minimise grid outages. For more on renewable energy, follow me on Instagram !

Rising Sea Levels

Image
Sea levels around the world are rising at a destructive rate - potentially affecting the livelihoods of those living in coastal regions - how? Since 1997, global sea levels have dramatically increased and pose a strong threat to coastal communities forcing some to migrate to higher land and move from their family communities. What can we do to prevent rising sea levels? Two of the main contributors to rising sea levels is from ice glacier melting and thermal expansion. By reducing our overall greenhouse gas emissions from our work and home lives, we can reduce the impact that rising sea levels are having on the world  🌍 For more on renewable energy, follow me on Instagram !

Rice is one of the most sustainably produced grains in the world!

Image
Whenever we think about being sustainable in our lives at home or at work, we often limit our thought journey to the distinct few applications, e.g. recycling, minimising use of plastics. Rice is one of the most sustainably produced grain in the world. Why? Rice requires a minimal amount of water during production and varieties like brown rice requires less processing. Let's take it one step deeper - let's be conscious of how our food is produced and how it impacts our environment. For more on sustainable living, follow me on Instagram !
